U4HEROES LAUNCHES THE SUPPORT SERVICES SCHOOL

We at U4Heroes are launching the Support Services School — a pilot training project for teams establishing or developing support services within units of Ukraine’s Defence Forces.

WHY IT MATTERS

Since August 2024, under Resolution No. 948 of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, every military unit is required to establish a support service. In practice, however, many of these services either do not function or operate only partially due to a lack of staff, standards, and methodological support. According to research by the NGO Pryntsyp, 75% of support service professionals had to build their own knowledge base to perform their duties.

At the same time, Ukraine already has teams that have proven this model works. For years, they have developed their practices while working alongside wounded service members and the families of fallen and missing service members. Now, this experience can be systematized and shared with other units.

What We’re Doing

The Support Services School is a 12-day, in-person course for teams of up to five: a head of the support service, case manager, psychologist, medical professional, and command representative. Nine modules cover the full scope of a support service’s work — from building a team to supporting wounded service members, the families of fallen and missing service members, and former prisoners of war.

Participants receive not only knowledge, but also the resources to put it into practice. Participation is free of charge.

The School’s first cohort will take place in Kyiv on August 17–29, 2026. After completing the training, teams become part of a community of practitioners, with ongoing mentorship, peer exchange, and further support.

We believe no one understands how to support service members better than those who serve alongside them. That is why we are building this School — so that every unit can have a support service that truly works.
