Long-Term Partnerships to Scale Promising Projects
We fund organizations working with service members, veterans, and their families — helping them deliver support services and scale proven models and standards that others can adopt.
Context
Hundreds of organizations across Ukraine already support wounded service members, the families of fallen, missing, and captured service members, and veterans returning to civilian life. They have valuable experience, but often lack stable funding, institutional capacity, and the space to document what works and share it with others.
This is where the gap often emerges: the solutions already exist, but there is no resource to scale them.
Why the Program?
We aim to close this gap by providing funding to nonprofit organizations and research initiatives working to advance the well-being of veterans and their families.
We deliberately avoid duplicating government programs and international donor initiatives. We direct funding where an essential tool, mandate, or resource is missing — or where our involvement can significantly strengthen what is already in place.
Program Principles
Partnership, Not Donorship
We build relationships with organizations based on equal partnership, shared responsibility, and mutual learning — rather than a one-way “donor–recipient” model.
Codifying Experience
We fund not only individual projects, but also models, standards, and institutions. Supported initiatives document its experience so that others can learn from and use it.
Data-Driven Solutions
We set our funding priorities based on evidence and dialogue with the relevant community, not on the popularity of a topic. Every project has clear, measurable outcomes, which we track throughout the project — not just at the end.
Agency of Those We Support
Service members and veterans are bearers of unique experience and knowledge, not simply recipients of assistance. Programs are designed with veterans’ experience at the core of how solutions are shaped.
The Right to Be Honest
We encourage partners to speak openly about challenges and mistakes — that is how better solutions emerge. Contexts change, and we are ready to revisit priorities and funding conditions together with our partners.
Respect and Safety First
All initiatives we support respect the dignity, autonomy, and rights of the people they work with. We assess risks to beneficiaries and will decline funding if a project could cause harm — even with the best intentions.
Program Priorities
Projects must address at least one of the priorities of the Support Program for Veteran Organizations:
- social support and case management;
- healthcare, including psychological and physical rehabilitation and access to medical care;
- community reintegration;
- employment and purpose;
- family support.
Who Can Apply?
- a nonprofit organization registered in Ukraine;
- at least 12 months of documented activity in the veteran sector (small grants may be an exception, subject to an expanded set of documents demonstrating the team’s capacity);
- operations in territory controlled by Ukraine;
- an active account with a Ukrainian bank;
- no inclusion on sanctions lists.
Coalitions of organizations may also apply under a “lead organization + partners” model.
We do not consider applications from commercial enterprises, government bodies, political parties, or religious organizations.
